Network System & Integration Test |
LTS can be used both as function and load test tool during system and integration test. In a long-term continuous test campaign, LTS can check all network services accessible to mobile subscribers, like performing calls or data transfers, using supplementary services, etc. By incorporating a diversity of test tools such as background load generators or protocol analysers, LTS becomes an integrated turnkey-solution for lab testing. This means that tests on different interfaces via numerous test devices can be synchronised (e.g. call test during a background load peak), and that these devices can be controlled from a unified, easy-to-use interface by a single person, which does not even need to be familiar with any of the test devices controlled by LTS.
LTS constantly monitors each performed action and provides detailed information on passed and failed test steps. At any time during the test campaign or afterwards, the user can browse the results and statistics acquired so far and export them for post-processing by external tools. He may also choose to define error thresholds, which automatically trigger an e-mail or SMS to the user, when a threshold is exceeded.
When used as a function test tool, huge test campaigns can be scheduled with LTS during off-business hours, increasing the profitable test plant usage, to detect problems that can be investigated by testers during the following work shift based on information gathered during the function test.
LTS also supports negative testing by providing a number of intrusive test functions on Um layer 2, such as forcing traffic channel overload or forcing expiration of the layer 2 retransmission counter.
As a load test tool, LTS can furthermore be used for stress & stability tests. By using many mobiles at once attached to the same base station or accessing the same data service, a large traffic demand can be generated. Each test is checked for correctness, so apart from pure load generation, performance and quality statistics can be obtained. |
